tank-commander:

This is not okay.

What’s not okay is this comparison.  Those elephants are most likely trained to do this behavior by physical force and extreme food deprivation. When is the last time in modern years (since more has been found out about the intelligence of cetaceans) that you’ve seen either of those things done to train orcas?  Oh, never? That’s because it doesn’t happen.  If these elephants are performing for any company I’m familiar with, they are abused on a daily basis.  Orcas are not.

1. Training doesn’t have to be abusive for the use of animals to be wrong. The use of animals itself is wrong.
2. FEAR is often used as a motivator for captive cetaceans, you can read about even Karen Pryor using fear to coerce dolphins into performing tricks in her book Lads Before The Wind. The use of fear, just like the use of physical force, is unacceptable. Likewise, denial of social interaction and exposure to long periods of deprivation of any stimulation are used for “training,” and all are unacceptable, especially for the sake of entertainment and money.
3. Abuse doesn’t have to be physical to be abuse. Captive cetaceans suffer immensely from being held captive; they are known to fight if kept together due to the frustration and stress of captivity, in turn they are often separated and kept alone which causes extreme duress and stress, they are unable to perform even basic natural behaviors in tanks which further contributes to psychological, emotional, and mental suffering. These are facts, not opinions.
4. Nobody who is “pro-cap” gets to have an opinion on the well being of animals that they are perfectly fine exploiting and abusing for their personal desires. You do not care about the animals, you care about what you want. Your opinion is therefore irrelevant.

Excuse fucking me, do not tell me what I do and do not care about. You do not know my personal opinions so please do not tell me how I feel.

Reading what you admit to being yourself isn’t even remotely close to telling you how you feel. I don’t need to know anything more than you are “pro-captivity,” which you admit yourself. That alone negates any opinion you might have on the well being of these animals, never mind that you seem ignorant of the abuses that captivity alone means for these animals.

Seeing as you just told me my personal opinion is irrelevant, I’d say that’s pretty close to telling me how I feel. I’m not gonna get into my personal opinion right now because that’d take too long, but I can assure you you’re wrong about how I feel.

Telling you that your opinions don’t amount to any worth is, again, not the same as telling you how you feel. I’m not sure you understand the phrase you’re using.
If what you state on your blog is not accurate, I suggest changing it.

Animal rape is legal in the US and the EU
Rape is the unlawful act of using physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse. What kind of message are people sending out to younger generations if engaging in a sexual act with a helpless animal is legal? Sadly, sex with animals, or more precisely raping animals, is a legal act in both EU and the States.

“This was his last moment on earth. He tried to fly away, but he was too young. He was someone. And he wanted to live.” - Mikko Alanne from Twitter
This is what happens in the egg industry. All male chicks are put into industrial blenders while still alive (or suffocated in bags). This happens even when your eggs are labelled “free range” or “humane.” Go vegan today.

Nothing is worth the mass-slaughter of newborns.
Stop.. buying.. eggs..

Or just google the damn farm and learn about farming ffs

Or you could you know, stop exploiting others.

Fun fact: Cheetahs only attack pray that runs

jesus that is good to know.

Yup, that’s the point you just stay still and let it do whatever the fuck it wants that doesn’t involved you getting eaten.

REALLY FUN FACT for big cats cheetahs are fucking docile as shit
my grandfather ran a cheetah sanctuary in south africa and he’d just lie with them and sleep among them and they’d rub against him and chirp at him they’re big fucking babies

Another Fun Fact: Cheetah’s are incredibly nervous animals. One of the (many) reason’s they’re going extinct is that cheetah’s are so sensitive and nervous, some of them are literally too nervous to breed. Other’s will breed, but stress themselves out so much, they’ll loose their cubs. So zoo’s with breeding program’s had to figure out how to make Cheetah’s comfortable enough to first of all, get laid and secondly - not spazz themselves into miscarrying. So what’d they do? They gave the cheetah’s their very own Service Dogs! The dogs make them feel safe, protected and secure!

Thats fucking adorable as hell

Miss Piggy had been rescued off the side of the road in North Carolina with a red stripe painted down her back — the telltale sign that she was marked for slaughter. How she escaped, we do not know, but an awesome woman named Valerie (who happend to be a wildlife rehabilitator and cat rescuer) scooped her up and kept her in suburban Long Island in a large pen her husband Eric built. Miss Piggy was very well cared for, but now 2 years old and fully-grown she needed more room to be a pig.
In March, 2010, she came to our sanctuary. At first we was rather intimidated by the other pigs, but soon she learned her place in the herd and gets along well enough. She’s still a little shy but has made friends with Oliver and Lodo — and she loves people. Her “parents” Eric and Valerie come almost every weekend to see her, bringing New York bagels and other treats!  (via Miss Piggy « Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary)

Advertising’s image of women. Watch this and get your mind blown.

This needs to stop.

I am not female but I really don’t think that matters. EVERYONE needs to see this.

Truth

she didn’t touch on how all of the media images are white.

white white snow white wonder bread Colgate with bleach

WHITE

what does that do to  women of color if the ideal we are shown since birth is  white women being the ideal?  I will continue to ask and demand it be answered

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Whitewashing happens a lot in the beauty industry as well. Here is a google image search for the word “beauty”, notice how whitewashed the entire thing is. There is barely any women of color, at a first glance it looks like there are none. Then when you look again, you realize there are some, but they have been photoshopped to appear whiter.

Also notice how every flaw is removed from women in advertisements. Even in shaving commercials women don’t have hair:

Look, she’s shaving absolutely nothing. She already doesn’t have hair.

Like, we just don’t let women in advertising have any flaws.

They don’t even let them have pores, apparently it’s hideous or something. But men can be considered handsome, with pores, wrinkles, blemishes, signs of aging. I will never understand why a man in his natural form is considered rugged or handsome, but a woman is only considered beautiful if she is heavily altered.

It’s really stupid, because I think women are still beautiful without removing these “flaws”.

This ia a high definition image of a woman where her skin is a little more realistic. Notice the faint crow’s feet, the pores on her skin, the facial hair underneath her lips and near her ears? That’s what real women look like. We aren’t made of plastic or porcelain. Nearly every image you see of women in the media act like we don’t even have pores. It’s completely ridiculous. They act like our faces don’t even have a texture.

Amazing
